Description
Blessed Thistle Fire Tonic is a locally made traditional herbal remedy created by Audrey Klopper of Blessed Thistle Farm in McClouth, Kansas. Similar to fire cider, which is a spicy, usually homemade drink that brings together a variety of all-natural ingredients said to have immune-boosting properties. Fire cider is an herbal remedy traditionally used to keep your immune system strong and fight inflammation. Suggested usage is one tablespoon daily during cold and flu season, or 1-2 tablespoons daily at the first sign of sickness. It’s great as a shot or mixed with water or juice.
In the 1970s, an American herbalist named Rosemary Gladstar coined the term “fire cider” and published a recipe that called for:
- Raw apple cider vinegar.
- Garlic.
- Ginger.
- Honey.
- Horseradish root.
- Onion.
- Cayenne pepper.
Blessed Thistle Fire Tonic contains all of the above listed ingredients along with heirloom chilies, oranges, lemons, lemon balm leaves, turmeric and rosehips.
Available at Cottin’s Hardware and Rental in Lawrence, KS
